Shortly before the senate adjourned plenary with the confirmation of former governor Rotimi Amaechi, the PDP senate caucus spoke with newsmen on their opinion.
The minority leader, senator Godswill Akpabio said Amaechi confirmation violated the standing rules of the senate.
The protesting PDP senators did not state the nature of the case in court but insisted that the confirmation is capable of creating a rift in the senate.
Our correspondent reports that Amaechi is not facing any corruption related prosecution but he went to court to challenge the veracity of the inquiry set up by the rivers state government.
